An October Stay-cation

Leland's work just recently changed their policy to give all parents 2 weeks of paid parental leave following the birth or adoption of a child. September and October is the busiest time at work for Leland, but luckily he was able to take some time off at the end of October for Julian's adoption. We decided with the time off we would go somewhere fun to celebrate. With the pandemic the options were kind of limited but I remembered an Airbnb that someone posted about that looked fun so we booked it and decided to go for it.

I wish I would have taken more pictures. It was located in Smithfield and it was a barn that had been turned into a house. It was a kid heaven with a playroom and a playground outside. It was really cozy and fall-ish and perfect for a little getaway. Here is the little cove Julian slept in, and there was one on the other side Israel slept in.

Esther and Julian especially loved the indoor swing.

We mostly just stayed at the house but we did take the kids to a nearby park and out for dinner.

Of course, nothing says vacation with small children like wrecked sleep. They all did not sleep well the first night, but took naps the next day and slept well the second night. Baby boy was there too, just no pictures of him.

The property was so beautiful with a stream running through it and SO many deer. We loved seeing them.

Inside the barn was heated only by a stove, outside there was a firepit. We had dinner out here the first night and the kids were thrilled. They also loved stoking the fire inside, especially Israel. He would beg and beg to make a fire and still pretends to make a fire now all the time.

Pretty leaves and fun swings.

The house was not really baby proof and of course the kids broke something in the airbnb. Trips with kids are so much work, but I know the memories will last longer than the hard times. The kids all loved it and begged to go back to celebrate if we adopt again. :)
