Hike to Bell's Canyon Reservoir

Today Esther was requesting to go to "tall mountain" meaning a hike, so we found one that wasn't snowy and went. Esther did really good and hiked almost the whole way there (.75 miles). Except for one incident where she went running ahead along the trail and there was a super steep drop off along side of her that scared the heck out of us. After that she was confined to a carrier. Also I found this hiking backpack for only $5 a couple of weeks ago at a yard sale. It was not comfortable at all. Poor Leland had to wear it and it wasn't comfortable for him or the girls. We will just stick to the buckle carriers we normally use from now on.

Yesterday Leland had the day off for fall break so we went to Cornbelly's. We had so much fun! I loved going here without kids and it had been a few years since we had been so I knew it would be even better now that Esther is old enough to enjoy it. We ended up staying like 6 hours! We hadn't planned to but we didn't want Esther to fall asleep in the car and have a super late nap, so we just stayed until 6. Esther fell asleep in the car and slept 13+ hours that night. She was so exhausted!

Esther and Adele both loved the corn box. Adele kept trying to eat it so she only got to stay in for a minute :)

There were so many little playgrounds and slides all around. Esther loved all of them.

She wanted to stick her head in every single cutout she saw and request a picture lol.

She was a little worried about the giant slide, maybe next year it will be funner for her.

They had one little section called "Pumpkin Princess Land". Esther looooved it. She got to dress up as Cinderella and dance on the stage. When the song from Cinderella came on she said " I need my prince, come on Dada!" </3 </3 </3 It was the cutest thing ever.

Playing house inside a pumpkin.

Family selfie on the cow train. We were all pretty tired by this point.

I am a little ( a lot) sad that we didn't get any family pictures or pictures of the girls with the pumpkins. I guess we will just have to go back! But really we might splurge on a season pass next year because it is just so fun. Plus then we wouldn't have to stay 6 hours to get our money's worth. :)

October Love

I always loved summer and winter growing up, but since having kids I have really become a fan of October. The weather is nearly perfect so we can go outside everyday and spend hours without getting too hot or too cold. Not to mention all the fun activities going on and Halloween, This October we have been spending tons of time outside and loving it.

Look at this big girl who can suddenly stand! Now I know walking is just around the corner. Thought makes me a little sad but a little happy too because I know she'll be adorable toddling around after Esther.

The other day we went to a park that is just 5 minutes from our house. It has a little path that goes into "dark woods" as Esther calls them. She was telling me all about how a "tider lives in dere" ha.

The Autumn colors were beautiful at this park. I got some cute impromptu photos of the girls in the leaves.

Balancing a leaf on her hand, look at that skill!

I love how whenever Adele gets laughing hard you can't even see her eyes :)

Before church the other day. I love these three cuties of mine.

5 Things for Friday

1. Fridays Y'all
Ok so I don't know why everyone loves Friday's so much. Friday's are by far my hardest day. The weekend is when I get extra sleep which make Mondays my best and most productive day. Then I just fizzle out a little more each day. By Friday I am just so tired I usually never get much done and it's just counting down the hours until Leland gets home. Today has been pretty good though, all things considered.

2. Transitioning from Nap to Quiet Time

So for the past few months Esther has been napping less and less. Now her last nap was 3 days ago and it feels like 3 years ago because naps are how I keep my sanity. On days where she doesn't nap she does quiet time for 45 minutes to an hour. Which means she has to stay in her room and she can do whatever she wants in there but can't come out until I come get her. She is happy to do it and knows the routine by now. But naps are soooooo much better ha. Although when she does nap it makes bedtime a nightmare. When she doesn't nap she'll sleep 7pm-7am which is nice but then I miss her at night so I'd rather have the naps. It just seems like 2.5 is so young to quit napping. I thought we had another 6 months at least.

3. The Cursed Honda
So we are typically big fans of Walmart over here and we usually go there to get our oil changed. So on Wednesday I went with the girls and got an oil change and we looked at the toys while we waited and everything was fine. Fast forward to Thursday night and I am driving to do my visiting teaching and the oil light keeps flashing. I was just about there so I keep going and get there and when I come back to the car I call Leland and tell him what is going on. I decide to ditch the car so walk home to be with the girls and Leland leaves to go fix it. Long story short, Walmart messed something up when they changed the oil so the oil filter cracked and all the oil poured out. Luckily it didn't do any damage and Leland was able to fix it with the help of a guy from our ward. But ugh it was a huge hassle. Tonight Leland is going to take it back to walmart and demand a refund (because I don't deal with confrontation lol). Hopefully they give us one. I joke with Leland that the Honda is cursed because it seems like something is always going on with it.

4. Pinterest and Creative To Do List

I have recently taken a break from Pinterest for the last few months and it has been great! I used to browse it almost every night and a lot of times while feeding Adele. And then I realized that it just made me feel depressed because I was comparing myself to all these other people and It also made me feel stressed and less creative with all the information overload. For me when I have an idea that never happens it makes me feel stressed I guess. Plus just looking at all those ideas just makes me feel like that is more and more stuff that I "need" to be doing. So anyways I stopped browsing and now I only use it when I already have a specific idea of what I want to do and I just need a little inspiration. I also made a little list of creative things I want to do. I felt silly at first but it's actually helped me focus on what I want to do and actually learn new skills instead of just pinning a bunch of crap that will never happen. Ok this is getting way to long but here is my list that I plan to finish before Christmas.
1.Make 2015 photo/blog book ( I'm like 25% done)
2.Can Something (check, we made salsa a few weeks ago)
3. Make a quiet book for the girls (haven't started yet)
4. Crochet a hat (I started making a bonnet for Adele last night and it is huge so it will be for Esther but other than that it's going great)

So anyways, this is super long, but bottom line a Pinterest break has been great for me.

5. Photo Spam

Adele loved her peach at the Farmer's Market this morning

Life Lately

So not a lot has been going on lately. I have been trying to spend more time working on our yearly photobook to get it done in time for Christmas. Which takes time from blogging. It takes a long time because I import all the blog posts as well as all the other pictures I take. I have also been trying to burn our home videos onto dvds. Which also takes forever. I love having all of the photos and videos physically so it's worth it.

Yesterday we went to Kylee's house to decorate Halloween cookies. Esther and Adele both love the extra attention and the cookies :)

We have been loving the fall weather. I got a used jogging stroller off of ksl for cheap and I have been running with the girls a few times. Adele loves it. Esther has to be bribed with crackers ha. But they both do pretty well and lucky for them I can only go for short runs right now. Running outside is my preferred form of exercise so I'm glad to have a way to do it again.

I'm excited for the Halloween and all the fun fall activities we have planned. Esther and Adele have the cutest costumes in the works and I can't wait to see them dressed up!
Happy Monday!
