Cabin Fever

Winter with a baby is rough. This weekend Esther had the flu, which she then gave to me. Luckily it wasn't too bad and only lasted a few days for Esther and one day for me. But after being stuck in the house all weekend I was really going crazy. I love going outside and it always makes me feel so much better to get out of the house and exercise a little. So today we went on a walk, even though it was only 32 degrees out!

I wanted to make sure she was very warm! Esther loves going outside. As soon as we step out the door she starts smiling and clapping her hands, it's the cutest thing ever. Every time I went around to check on her she had this little grin on her face.

When we passed by the playground at the park she started grunting to get out haha. I think she remember playing there a few weeks ago when it was warmer.

We both love to watch the river.

Being outside was so good today. For some reason everything looked so pretty, probably just because I haven't been outside in forever.

In other news Esther has recently decided that one nap a day is sufficient for her. I think it is way too early for this, so most days it is a battle of the wills, which also contributes to our cabin fever. Today she won, but luckily she stayed happy after our walk. Here she is being silly at lunch time, and the first picture I've gotten that show's her cute little teeth ;). Also one of her top teeth is coming in so maybe that is the cause of the nap time strikes. 10 months is a little early to drop to one nap right?

10 Months Old

This past month has gone by so fast! Yesterday someone asked me how old she was and I almost said 8 months haha. Her little personality is starting to show through a lot more. She can be a stubborn little girl when she doesn't get her way, but we love her anyways :). She is still pretty happy as long as she is well rested and fed.

This past month we did a lot of traveling for the holidays, and right around Christmas she got her two front bottom teeth, finally! Between the teething and sleeping in strange cribs, her sleep habits took a turn for the worse. We've had to resort to laying with her in our bed to fall asleep, then transferring her to the crib once she's in a deep sleep. But now that things have settled down we are trying to work our way back into a normal schedule with her falling asleep on her own.

She has definitely started showing signs of separation anxiety this past month, she has become a big mama's girl, which I don't mind, except when it's 3am and she only wants me haha. But along with that she has become more cuddly, and has been falling asleep on me which hasn't happened in like 6 months.

She is still crawling like a pro and pulling up all over. She has starting cruising around furniture more, but still prefers crawling everywhere since it's faster. She wears size 12 and 18 month clothes now, and size 4 diapers still. At her 9 month appointment she was 20 pounds 5 oz (80th %) and 29 inches long (94th %). So she is our tall little girl. Leland says he wants her to play basketball or volleyball since she will probably be tall.

She has started eating a lot more table food, and has mastered her pincer grasp. She has started eating bigger things, like graham crackers, now that she has teeth. Her favorite foods are yogurt bites, bananas, pears, and apples. She really loves any fruits. She eats 3 meals a day and usually 3/4th of a jar of baby food in one meal. She will eat pureed vegetables but she isn't a big fan. She does love eating steamed vegetables that she can pick up herself though. She is still nursing 4-6 times a day and 1-2 times at night. She is a lot better about eating in public too, which I never thought would happen, so that makes things much easier.

At 10 months she likes:
-going outside
-my family's cats
-walking while holding our hands
-clapping
-baths
-reading books
-being held
-pulling hair

At 10 months she doesn't like:
-being buckled in her highchair or carseat
-getting her diaper changed
-when Mama is too busy to hold her
-people touching her hands or belly (she will push their hands away haha)

practicing for when we go sledding

She still hasn't said her first word yet, but she is constantly babbling so I'm sure it will be soon. She has said "mama" a few times in her babbling but I don't think she is saying it to mean anything yet. She does understand a few words like "no-no" and "milky" and "ni-night", she will also crawl to me when I tell her "Esther come to Mama" which is the cutest thing ever.

her little sassy face haha

I can't believe how much she has changed in the past ten months. Only 2 months until she is one! It's flown by but we sure love our little Esther more and more each month. :)

2014 in Review

2014 was a great year for us! It will probably always be remembered as "Esther's year" because she was pretty much the center of attention for all of it. I swear time goes twice as fast once you have a baby. This past year has flown by!

January:
In January my sweet friend Calee took maternity pictures for us. I was 34ish weeks pregnant.

February:
February was the month we expected Esther to be born. Most of it was spent counting down the days until she came. I really didn't take any pictures haha, but here is the one of me at 41 weeks right before leaving to be induced.

March:
In March Esther was finally born!

April:
In April we spent a lot of time outside enjoying the sunshine with our newborn.

May:
In May was Esther's blessing day and also my first Mother's Day

June:
In June we celebrated my birthday at the zoo, moved to a new apartment, and also was Leland's first Father's day. I also didn't post at all... oops.

July:
In July we went on a trip to Bear Lake with my family.

August:
In August we spent a lot of time with family, we went to the Ogden Temple open house and had a family reunion. We also celebrated Leland's birthday.

September:
In September Uncle Bennett came home from his mission for 6 weeks for surgery. Esther had her half birthday and was a sitting pro.

October:
October was a busy month. Esther learned to crawl, we went to the pumpkin patch, and Esther had her first Halloween.

November:
In November we celebrated Thanksgiving with my family, and Esther started pulling up all over the place.

December:
In December Esther met Santa, we celebrated Christmas with Leland's family, and we celebrated our second anniversary, and we finished off the year at my parents house for new years.

2014 was such a good year for us! I am excited for 2015 and whatever it brings.

Two Years

On December 28th we celebrated our two year anniversary. Since our anniversary is a few days after Christmas we don't really do much gift wise. On Monday we went to my parent's house in Southern Utah and they babysat for us while we went on a date. We went go-cart racing and out to eat to Buca de Beppo. One "gift" I gave Leland was this slide show I put together of pictures of us since we met. It was so funny to look back on all of these. It feels like we've been married for so much longer than 2 years. I feel like I've been with Leland forever. I won't gush too much, but I'll let the video tell the story. My goal when making it was to make Leland cry, and it easily accomplished that! The song is one of Leland's favorites, so I knew it would get to him :).
