I have gotten a little behind on the blog. A lot has been going on lately, with Christmas, family visiting and our anniversary. So here is a little catch up post of our Christmas festivities.

We were able to visit Temple Square again this year to see the lights. We actually went twice, and both times we went it was so crowded, but still fun. We were testing out a new baby carrier and Leland was a champ for carrying Esther around the whole night.

Christmas was so fun this year. Esther still doesn't understand much but she does love presents. She has been having some sleep issues and she didn't go to sleep until 10pm on Christmas Eve. We were all super tired. We had to wake Esther up at 8:30 to open her presents because we were skyping with Bennett at 9. She usually doesn't take well to being woken up but when she saw the presents under the tree she perked right up. :) She loved all her presents, but especially her baby and high chair. Skyping with Bennett was fun too. It will be weird to not have that next year since we've had it the past three Christmases.

I only got videos of the initial present opening in the morning, so I tried to get a few pictures later in the day. Pictures of Esther these days usually just come out horribly which is why I've been taking more videos.

I'm pretty sure she thinks the only way to play with these legos is to dump them out all over, then clean them up and repeat.

Feeding her baby.

More picture attempts. There was a smudge on my lens :(

Later in the day we went to Leland's sister's house for dinner. Esther loves playing with her cousins and uncles and had a blast there. Afterwards we came home and attempted to feed Esther more food since she had basically only had sugar all day. She is watching a show, aka the only time I can get her to be still for a picture.

Holding hands with baby:

Since we didn't go down to my parents this year on Christmas they came here the weekend after, They totally spoiled Esther and got her a new play kitchen and a few other toys. She loves her new kitchen, and she loved being the center of attention with so many people too :)

Of course the box that the kitchen came in was a big hit too!

We had a great Christmas this year. It is nice to be able to keep it simple while Esther is little. I'm sure the years will just keep getting better and better as she gets older. It's so crazy to think that next year we'll have two little girls. I can't wait!

34 Weeks with #2

Most maternity shirts are getting too small including this one.

So it's been a little while since I've done an update. Things have been going pretty well. At my 31 week appointment I was measuring 38 weeks, so the Dr had me go for an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed baby measuring in the 67th %, so not big (even though growth estimates this late in pregnancy are known to be inaccurate). But the ultrasound did show that I had too much fluid (aka polyhydramnios) but just barely. Normal levels are between 5 and 25 and mine was 26. After getting this diagnoses I was a little worried because it can lead to complications and interventions. I was told to go in for another ultrasound to follow up in 3 weeks to see if the fluid level was rising.

Well today I had the follow up ultrasound. It went great! First of all baby girl was very cooperative and we got some adorable 3D pictures.

I think she looks just like Leland. She is so cute! I never got any 3D pictures with Esther so it was fun to see her. She was also head down (she was breech in the first ultrasound) so that was great news for our vbac plan. When they measured the fluid it was 19 this time. I was so happy! That means I no longer technically have polyhydramnios, so no more follow up ultrasounds.

Otherwise the pregnancy has been pretty typical. Since I am measuring so far ahead my belly looks full term already, at least to other people. People are very surprised to hear I still have 6 weeks until my due date. I had the following conversations with an lady at Walmart the other day:

Lady: Oh I bet you are having a boy aren't you!?
Me: No actually it's another girl.
Lady: Well you must be due any day now right?
Me: No not until the end of January.
Lady: Oh my, I am usually so good at guessing.
Me:...( Awkwardly smile and walk away)

Haha strangers really love to comment on the pregnancy.

I've started to have a lot more heart burn and acid reflux. It doesn't bother me too bad though. At the first ultrasound the tech said she could see that the baby has hair, so I guess the old wives tale is true. I wonder if this baby will have dark hair like Esther did.

I am pretty uncomfortable these days. We usually rock Esther before laying her in her crib to sleep and that is pretty much impossible with this belly. Same goes for her sitting on my lap. Luckily Leland helps out with those things a lot. Carrying her is getting harder too, I usually have pelvic pain if I carry her too much in one day, Since she is such a runner I've been tempted to get her a leash lol.

Esther is very cute though. I think she is starting to understand more about the baby. When I ask her where our baby is she will lift up my shirt and kiss my belly haha. It's adorable. We are getting her a new baby doll and some big sister books/videos for Christmas. Hopefully those things will help her transition.

My 34 week update with Esther is  here for comparison. I think I am bigger this time around but carrying more in the belly.

Pictures from December

Thanks for all of the concern and nice words about my last post. Esther is doing much better. Her blood work came back a little abnormal so we're continuing to watch her closely, but her fever is finally gone and she is back to acting normally. We've even been able to leave the house a few times :) Here are some pictures of what we've been doing the past week or so.

While she was sick Esther watched so much TV. It's all she wanted to do while she wasn't feeling well. Now that she's better she still wants to keep up the trend and is always asking for "show". Loki loves to lay by her while she watches :)

Attempting to get a picture of her in her Christmas dress before church on Sunday.

Yesterday for FHE we went to a gingerbread house festival. They had some amazing gingerbread houses, cookie decorating, and Santa.

I talked Santa up all day and showed Esther pictures to try and get her excited to sit on his lap. She was excited until the time came, then she tried to subtly slip off his lap.

When I put her back on she was not happy about it haha. The rest of the night she kept looking at Santa with a concerned look on her face lol. Santa is going to be at the library story time this weekend so we'll see if she is still scared.

I already posted this on Instagram, but this picture captures three things Esther loves, her pink cupcake ornament, sitting in the giant shopping carts and her pink fuzzy.

On Saturday Leland had his work party. It was at the Marriot hotel in Salt Lake. The food was great and his brother Kent was nice enough to babysit for us :)

Other things Esther has been doing lately:

She is obsessed with flying. I think she got it from watching so much Dumbo. She will get any of her toys and put them above her head and say "fly" over and over again haha. She's even been known to use rocks lol. I love seeing her develop a little imagination.

She has really been getting stubborn lately. She has decided she is over being spoon fed and wants to eat everything by herself. She has to be put in her crib quite often to calm down when she is throwing a tantrum. Luckily she loves her crib and usually calms down within 5 minutes or so. I am hoping she is hitting the terrible twos a little early and will have somewhat resolved these things by the time the new baby is here. Here's for hoping haha.

Christmas Book Tradition

Last year I saw someone on Instagram who posted about a Christmas tradition they had of opening a Christmas book a day until Christmas. I thought it looked like a cute idea so I decided to copy them. I started looking for Christmas books at DI and other thrift shops throughout the year. There were so many there, but I decided to just get board books in good condition. I ended up with 14 books to use.

I wrapped them all and Esther has loved opening them so far. We save it until after dinner (aka witching hour) when Leland is home to read them with us.  I tried to find some about Christ but there weren't many. I plan on collecting more books through out the year and then we will use the same ones every year. It is a simple (and cheap-most of these were around 75 cents) Christmas tradition that will hopefully turn Esther into a book lover like her parents :)
