Jewels

"The most precious jewels you'll ever wear around your neck will be the arms of your children."

Breakfast the other day. Adele's first time sitting at the table. She won't have solid food for a few more months though :)
Esther is always loving on Adele lately. And insisting on wearing fleece footie pajamas even when it's 80 degrees outside.
Wearing them both at the same time just for fun.
I love our little Gusgus.
It's hard to remember sometimes amidst the mess and chaos, but I know that these children of mine really are precious jewels. I know I'll long for them to be little again when they're all grown up so I'm soaking up all of their littleness while I still can. Even though there are many hard days these little cuties make it so worth it. There is no where I would rather be :)

*Bad photo quality but too cute not to share* I love all her rolls. They are au natural :) #breastfeedingftw

I'll just leave you with this. This is her first real belly laugh and I managed to get it on video :) Ignore my obnoxious noises, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Swimming

Esther has been dying to go swimming lately. She is always asking to go anytime she sees our swimsuits. She just couldn't wait a couple more weeks until our aparment complex pool opens so we decided to go to the rec center yesterday. Esther loved it so much. She is pretty timid in the water, but she loves jumping from the side into our arms. I even took her down the big slide on my lap. Her head went under at the end so that scared her a little but I think she liked it. She loved it so much that we stayed past bedtime and she threw a gigantic tantrum when we left to repay us #terribletwos. Adele seemed to like the water too. She didn't cry at least. She looked so adorable in her swimsuit with all her rolls :)

Neff's Canyon

Today we hiked Neff's Canyon with some of Leland's co-workers. I carried Esther on my back with a toddler carrier we are borrowing, and Leland carried Adele and our backpack. Good thing it was a short hike :). We all had fun though. Esther was loving when I let her out to run along the trail. She also liked exploring with another little girl her age that was there :).

Book Review: The Light Between Oceans

So I read this book a couple of weeks ago and I really loved and I really hated it, I still can't decide how I feel about it, It's going to be made into a movie this summer so instead of a synopsis here is the trailer.

I think I mostly liked it but there were some parts where I was so frustrated with the characters. There were other parts that were so sad and heartbreaking I almost cried myself. I really liked how realistic it seemed. After reading other reviews about the book it seems that parents and non-parents have different perspectives on it. Ok, this sounds super vague but I don't want to ruin anything. If anyone has read it I would love to hear your perspective on it! I basically told Leland the entire story just so I could have someone to discuss it with haha. And I am totally seeing the movie as soon as it comes out!

Mother's Day 2016

I had a great Mother's Day this year. Leland spoiled me with great gifts because he knows gifts are my love language haha. On Saturday Leland watched the girls while I went and got my hair cut and highlights. It was great except that Adele refused to take a bottle while I was gone so I had to leave early, but it's ok, that's motherhood for you! On Sunday I got to sleep in and eat lots of chocolate. :) I know a lot of people don't like mother's day, but  I enjoy the appreciation and the chance to thank our moms for all they do!

Three Months

This is a few days late, but Adele turned three months old on April 28th. As you can see, she has gotten huge! I love her little double chin and all her rolls. I know they won't stay around for long so I am loving her chubby days while they last. She hasn't been weighed since her two month check-up but I would guess she is 15+ pounds by now, probably more.

Adele is still doing great with breastfeeding. We haven't had any problems which I am grateful for. She loves her milk a little too much though, she won't take a binky most of the time anymore and who knows if she would take  bottle if she needed too. Usually during the day she will eat every 3-4 hours. At night her reflux is worse and she has been waking up constantly, every hour or two writhing in pain. Usually she has to be burped before she will nurse a little for comfort. It's been rough and I've been debating taking her to the Dr to get some medicine for her reflux. She is mostly a happy baby and is obviously gaining enough weight, but her nights have me thinking that maybe we need to do more for her (and me!). We just started her on some colic calm probiotics so we're hoping that helps things.

At 3 months Adele likes: baths, going outside, being worn in the carrier, watching Esther, being talked to, sucking on her hands, and soft blankets.

At 3 months she doesn't like: her carseat, being alone, or the binky.

I am not a big fan of nicknames and I was hesitant to choose the name Adele for her because I didn't want anyone calling her Addy. So far no one has, but she does have a few other nicknames. Baby and Baby Dell by Esther, New Delhi and Chunky Monkey by Leland and I sometimes call her The Little One and Chubster :)

Here are a few more pictures I took the other day. I love seeing Adele and Esther start to interact. Adele is the smiliest baby and has started to laugh a little these past couple of weeks. Adele really does bring so much joy to our family :)
