Halloween + October Things

We had such a warm and fun October. October was sunny and wonderful and then the day after Halloween we got our first light snowfall. It has been a snowy winter ever since, so I was grateful for the extra long stretch of warm days we had in October.

We carved pumpkins Halloween Day. Since our house was on the market we had to try and keep everything nice and aesthetically pleasing so we left the pumpkins on our porch uncarved until Halloween day. It was warm enough to carve them outside which was so nice! The chickens enjoyed eating most the guts and carved pieces.

A slightly chilly trip to the library with a little gnome baby.

At the trunk or treat with cousins. This was a few days before Halloween.

The kids wanted a Peter Pan theme this year. Moses was an adorable little lost boy.

Peter Pan himself.

Tinkerbell

Wendy

And John (he refused to be sibling pressured into being Captain Hook ha. Leland, shockingly, did not want that role either haha)

More Moses

A lot of fall leaves at forest school.

Adele put this outfit on by herself. She has never seen Anne of Green Gables but she was a spitting image. I am going to read the girls the book this spring and I think Adele will be in love.

Another beautiful day at forest school.

I made the girls hats last fall and the boys hats this fall. Apparently two crocheted items per year is my max. Perhaps this fall Leland and Moses will finally get theirs.

Adele in her wonderful Noah's Ark dress we thrifted.

Batter Licking Babies

We went to the pumpkin patch like we do each year. It really isn't even about pumpkins at all, we don't even get our pumpkins there ha. But there is a petting zoo and a corn box and a hay maze (we don't do the corn maze, we learned a few years ago that our kids are still several years away from finding any enjoyment wandering around even a non haunted maze) and a giant slide. The kids love it and it is a fun tradition.

We went on a fun fall hike. I told myself we would still do lots of hikes this fall and winter even though Leland's work hiking challenge was over. We in fact went on one hike in the fall and one this winter. Oh well. This one was beautiful though. It was at Green Pond up by Snow Basin. We hiked to the pond and saw a beaver dam! Some of us even saw the beaver! Those of us who didn't were disappointed but it was still a beautiful hike anyways with all the fall leaves.

Moses carrying his beaver stick souvenir.

We found some frost at the beginning of the hike.

A little toddler monkey.

Who loves loves reading books.

After church photo shoot.

Our realtor invited us to her church's harvest party. It was really fun and the kids LOVED the free face painting. Anytime we go to any event with face painting they beg and beg for it. Not being one to want to shell out $10 a kid for some paint that will just wash off, most of these poor deprived children have never had their faces painted. Until this day, when all their wishes came true.

We got a zoo pass last summer, but i could never bring myself to take them when I knew it would be hot and crowded (I'm really revealing the boring mom I am in this post) so we took everyone in October and it was glorious perfect weather. I had to count the kids in this picture a few times before I realized that some random kid hopped in our picture haha.

Moses was not sure what to think about the Merry Go Round.

More library trips.

We went to a fun homeschool play group at a camp ground, it was great except this big bridge Moses kept trying to dive off of.

I finally just gave in and took him down to the water.

The girls and their friends on a rope swing.

And at the end of September/Beginning of October we always celebrate Julian's adoption and sealing day with a cake. He choose this spider cake. It's been 2 years since Julian was adopted, it feels like so much longer. We sure are lucky to have this little guy in our family. 💙
