Julian's Baptism Day

Just a few days after we got back from Hawaii, it was Julian's baptism day! We took pictures at the temple, which I also did with Adele and it was a cute special date right before the baptism.

I'll be honest, baptisms and blessing days for our kids are always a little stressful and sad for me. It really makes my miss my dad, who didn't live long enough to see any of our kids baptized, as well as Leland's dad who passed away when Leland was a kid. We don't have very much family that is either near enough to come or active in the church anymore. So it can be a hard time for me. I  imagine these events filled with family and cousins and excitement and some of ours have been, but some of them are just a few family members, like Julian's. Leland's mom has made the trip from Texas for all of our kids baptisms and I'm super glad for that.I know it makes the kids feel special. I am very grateful for all the family members that do come! Special days for our kids just makes me miss the ones that aren't there.

Julian was so excited to be baptized and really seemed to understand it on a deep level. Julian has a strong desire to do what is right. He loves the scriptures and has an amazing memory for remembering them. His favorite stories are David and Goliath, Nephi and all the Book of Mormon war chapters.

Leland baptized and confirmed Julian, and his Granny Hunt and Adele were the witnesses. I gave a talk on baptism and  I believe Esther gave a prayer. The baptism was shared with another girl in the ward and lots of our ward members and friends came to support them.

I told him to do a jump and I feel that this picture perfectly captures all of his bundled up energy and excitement!  He was just so excited and  I am happy he had a great day!
