Sorrel at 2
Our baby Sorrel turned 2 back in July. I need to record everything I can about this cute precious girl before she grows up even more. As a poor 6th baby she has hardly any mentions on this blog, but I think it’s made up for by her being positively adored every second of her life by her big siblings.
Sorrel is a cute, stubborn and sassy girl. Being born on the 4th of July I should have known she’d be a “firecracker.” She knows what she wants and will NOT give up until she has it. It’s made for some fun lessons in parenting for me. ;)
Sorrel reminds me a lot of Adele as a baby and toddler. Like Adele she started talking early and it’s been so fun to hear. Now at 2 years old she says full sentences like “Moses take my baby” and “pass it my water, Adele!” She picks up words really fast and is in phase of surprising us with new words everyday. Some of my favorites are "betuz" (because), dicous (delicious), and when she's cuddling me saying "my baby mama" just like Adele used to.
Some other funny things she has said "I punch Dada in da face!" Me: You did? why? Sorrel: Betuz Dada make Sorrel cry!
She refers to herself in third person all the time. She knows how to say me and I so I think it must be because she's really trying to her point across. She often tells me "Sorrel crying!" or "Sorrel sad!"
Another funny thing she said:
Me while picking her up "oh wow Sorrel, you're getting heavy!" "No Mama! You heavy!"
Sorrel loves babies, dolls, cats, horses and all things girly. She loves to wear pink and is VERY particular about what she wears. She's been in just a diaper or underwear most of this summer because she puts up a huge tantrum almost everytime I try to get her dressed. She is also obsessed with shoes and likes to try on the shoes of everyone who comes to the house. She has many pairs but has to be in just the right mood to wear each one.
Sorrel still sleeps in a crib in our room. She sleeps through the night for the most part, but getting her to fall asleep is a nightmare almost every night. I can't tell if its just because we are lazy indulgent parents or if it's because she is the world's most stubborn child. Probably a mix of both. Sorrel is still nursing during the day although my milk is all dried up. She is night weaned for the most part. I keep hoping she will wean herself but no such luck so far.
We call Sorrel our little carnivore baby because she has very particular tastes in food. She loves all meat, milk, cheese and yogurt. She doesn't love vegetables or fruits which is a first for me as a parent. She does okay with bread and crackers now after quite a long time of not eating them.
Sorrel loves her siblings and learned all of their names early on. She needed to learn them in order to scream and them and give them commands. But don't worry they all still adore her. She also really loves her foster brother Mac and it will be a sad day for her when he leaves our home.
We sure do love our little Sorrel. I can't believe she is two already! We all absolutely love her and we can't imagine life without her.
