Ups and Downs

This post is being written from my phone due to a broken laptop, hence the lack of posts lately. But a lot has been going on so I want to record it all. Forgive all the typos...

-RSV: Esther came down with a "cold" last Friday which I took her to the Dr for and found out was RSV. Thankfully since she's older it wasn't as bad as it could have been, and she is slowly starting to recover. But for a while there it was pretty bad, coughing, wheezing, fevers, taking her to the hospital to get "suctioned", double ear infections, and many sleepless nights. I am just so grateful that she never got it when she was a little baby. She has mostly handled it well and has still been her playful self.

+School: the semester has been over for a couple weeks and I have been loving it. No more scrambling to find a babysitter or trying to write papers during nap time. I have actually had time to read for fun and once my laptop is hopefully fixed, I'll have time to work on more projects I've been meaning to get to.

-mothering: motherhood is hard work and most the time I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. The internet doesn't help with articles like "10 mistakes you didn't know you were making" and getting your baby to sleep through the night at 12 weeks. Umm, my baby is 14 months and still won't sleep through the night most the time no matter what we try to do. Also weaning is another story, Esther will probably be breastfed forever because apparently nursing is a magic potion and the only way to get her to sleep when she's sick.

+ the weather: aside from the past few rainy days the weather has been great. Esther thrives on being outside and it's been nice to get out of the house for walks because she can't go anywhere else without getting people sick.

+ mother's day: I had an awesome day today. Leland got me tons of great presents ( gift giving = my love language) and I got to spend time with family and skyping our missionary. Sadly I got no pictures...

+ the greatest news of all: Leland got a new job in Salt Lake! It is a job that is in his field, an actuary at an insurance company. We are so excited! We have been waiting and praying for this most of our marriage. We thought we would have to move out of Utah for a job like this, so it really is such a blessing. Even though it will mean a long commute for a while and another move in the near future, we are so grateful!
